LETTING GO

"An expert is someone who, over many years, manages to remain confident enough to keep trying and humble enough to keep learning" Author unknown.

Was smacked with this wonderful quote today as I wrestled with the writing demons. My intent was to get back at putting fingers to qwerty and attempt to rekindle the idle grey matter. So what does remaining confident whilst keeping humble have to do with "letting go"?

Winter arrived this past week and I was thinking of how the trees in our part of the world simply let go. How they like clockwork and without grief (as far as I know) shed their leaves and go into a long slumber before a renewal. Today with little fanfare I started on a path where I want to imitate the trees. Learn to lose things to be a better person/husband/father/grandfather/friend/volunteer.

Part of accepting that to become that better person, we have to learn to lose, like the trees losing their leaves every year. Nothing stays the same for long, not pain, not sadness, not depression, not elation. It all will pass in time.

Today I decided that I need to Let It GO and move forward. Knowing now that I have no responsibility to live up to someone else's expectations of me, I will spend as little time as possible chasing other people's desires instead of mine.

Namaste

What a beautiful analogy my friend. I, too, try to live by this credo. It is entirely liberating. Love you.
